Busy Bees

Wow this last month has flown by. I cannot believe it almost the end of October. Well, this last month has been pretty busy...
While we enjoyed the end of Sept with some nice weather and extended trips to the zoo and playgrounds, October came in with a bang. We had a massive storm that dropped quarter and golf-ball size hail and an inch of rain in less than an hour. It looked like snow at our house. We were fortunate that no major damage was done, as we had friends with home damage and car damage. We are grateful for that. We were, however, rewarded at the end of the storm, with a beautiful double rainbow. What an awesome site and reminder. :)

Mike and I had our first night with no kids in over 5 years. The older two had a birthday party sleepover and we have a wonderful friend who offered to keep Erika for us.
It's amazing what a good nights sleep can do. No one wandering in at 5 am (or earlier... as Erika is prone to do) or having to rush to get up and feed the kids, or get them ready to go... it was sooo nice. Mike and I went on a date and then relaxed at home. (Insert contented sigh here). But, then we were back to being mom and dad. We love our kids and did miss them though. But they all seemed to have a good time.

We decided to celebrate Erika's birthday a little early. We just had a family party at park. It was fun. October may have started off with a bang, but the weather has been very finicky. It was still in the 90's on Sat, but the kids were just happy to be playing outside.

We were planning on picking pumpkins with our homeschool group tomorrow, but again with the finicky weather. The news is saying there is a 60% of rain, so it's looking like that will be postponed. But we will be hitting the zoo this weekend with my folks and we will get around to picking pumpkins, plus Halloween, so I should have more stuff to post before long. Thanks for checking in.

Update

Ok well the end of Feb. is almost here. We have had a busy month. We started off with Tim and Lex's birthdays. It was fun. We decided to do Knight and Princess party. (They wanted separate one's at first, but I am not ready for that just yet... so we sold them on this idea). It came out cute. We had a castle cake, dragon pinata, and the kids all got knight and princess stuff to take home. It was a good time!

Then after that we once again took advantage of the nice weather and spent some time out doors. I managed to get some good shots of the kids!(I will be sending hard copies of  these in the mail this weekend) :)

Valentine's day was fun. We had a party with our homeschool group. The kids made holders and then exchanged Valentine's. Shesh, my hand hurt after we made all ours, but they sure came out cute!

Erika is doing well... LOL. I had to post this one with her hair... She is the only one of my kids that has hair that sticks straight up first thing in the morning. It's pretty funny!
She is a complete busy body these days... into everything. She is also somewhat of a daredevil as she loves to climb and jump and be flipped around. Shesh. She is talking now a little. We took her to the zoo for the first time in awhile and she got all excited and was making all the animal sounds. It was cute to see her get so excited.
Plus she is so friendly that I don't think she stopped waving the whole time we were on the train. LOL.

My in laws got the kids a table for their birthday.
Erika was so upset about being in her high chair and threw a fit until I let her sit down at the new table with the other two. She certainly has a mind of her own these days!

Well, I guess that is all for now, but we have a busy weekend, and then we have picture day for our homeschool yearbook. I will try and get them posted as soon as I get them. We also have several outings for March planned... plus with the weather getting to be so nice I am sure we will be out and about so I should have lots to blog about next month.

Please take care and thanks for stopping by!

P.S. I could not resist posting this one... because "It is good to be queen!" (Even if it is only in my mind!)

Erika is one!

Well we did not do a whole lot of Erika's birthday, but we had some fun none-the-less. I still cannot believe she is one. Time flies.

She is now walking a few steps at a time. The main reason for this is she tries to run so her body gets ahead of her feet and she tumbles forward. I am not looking forward to her walking, as she is a speedster at crawling, and I am afraid she is just going to take off at a run once she realizes she can.
She is also becoming quite picky about food. Most of it seems to end up on the floor, but she does seem to have a sweet tooth. (As evidenced by the birthday cake all over her.)

She is talking some. She loves our guinea pig and can be seen quite a bit "chatting" with him. She will then look at you and yell "Lenny!" It is really cute. Most everything is "dada". Although we have discovered variations to that, in that there are different tones for different things... she goes high pitched at the end of the word when "talking" to or about Alexa. Doggie and duckie are higher pitched in the middle and daddy is the excited "dadadadadada!" At least that is what it seems like so far... LOL. (Wow, you know I must be a mom of three, not to many others would be able to understand baby talk so well. LOL Maybe I should write a book.)
Anyway, we are getting ready for fall here. The weather has finally decided to cooperate and cool off... We are decorating pumpkins on Friday with our home-school group, and the kids will also be dressing up for Halloween. So I am sure there will be plenty of pics to follow. November is shaping up to be another busy month, with doctor appointments. play dates and Thanksgiving activities, and I would like to squeeze in a trip to the zoo sometime.
Thanks to everyone for the Birthday wishes for Erika...

Hope everyone has a blessed upcoming Reformation day, and is taking time to enjoy a wonderful fall so far.

Birthday party

We had the Tim and Lex's birthday party this past weekend. The kids originally decided they wanted separate parties, but ultimately settled for a joint party at Peter Piper Pizza. It was fun. There were lots of tokens and tickets, pizza and cake , and of course presents.
We had to wait til we got home to try out some presents:
Being that Tim is now 5 we thought would get him a (small)pet. He decided he wanted a guinea pig. He named it Lenny (for anyone interested Lenny is one of the Wonder Pets on a cable cartoon show). Even Lex really likes Lenny:
So all in all we had a really good time.
Make sure you check back tomorrow, as Alexa's actual birthday is tomorrow, and I will have more to post then. Thanks!

Birthday Presents

I think their Uncle Jesse has figured out what to get them as presents... He nailed both kids right on. Actually the gloves Tim is wearing were a Christmas present, but he finished off the look for his birthday with the mask. Lex is still walking around here this morning cuddling her new baby girl. LOL
I think we will all go to Jess for suggestions on what to get the kids from now on. :)

Happy Birthday!

Well we made this far. Our oldest child, Tim... is now 5 years old. Amazing!
I made this montage of him through the years... unfortunately I did not have time to find some of his early baby pics... but I like the way this came out. View this montage created at One True Media
Tim through the years

I know it's kinda long... sorry... so much has happened in the last 5 years I had a hard time narrowing it down. :)
It's amazing how much he has changed. I still cannot believe my baby is 5...
Anyway I hope you enjoy a trip down memory lane... I sure did.

Update

Well here is a quick update of some things the kids and I have been up to the last few weeks.
We attended a birthday party for a boy at our church. It was fun, they held it at a place called Pump It Up. It's one of those inflatable play areas. The kids had a blast!
Both kids liked the slide the best... but there was LOTS of bouncing and climbing in some of the other areas as well. :)
Our son is growing up, and wanting to use tools like daddy. So we signed Tim up for a free class at Lowes to make a fire truck. He is so proud that he was able to make this all by himself. (Ok so there was a little help from Daddy... but for the most part he did it all.) He has a lot to be proud of, he did a great job. Future builder? Guess we'll see. LOL.
Well I guess that's about it... it's still pretty warm here (100 degrees plus) so we are still pretty much homebodies these days. Hopefully things will start cooling down here soon, and we can get out a little more. I will try and get some good photos for everyone. :)
Although I suspect there will be lots of pics of our newest addition, once he/she decides to make an appearance. (Hopefully sooner rather than later... LOL) Being pregnant in the desert during the summer is really not very fun... thank goodness for air conditioning and water bottles filled with ice water. ROFL!
Anyway just wanted to keep everyone posted. Check back soon, as we have another class at the Space Museum coming up and another birthday party in the next few weeks, so hopefully there will be more pics and antidotes to post. Thanks for checking in!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I just wanted to take the opportunity to say Happy Birthday to my wonderful Hubby! We are so blessed to have such a man in our lives. As he is a little shy (yes I realize this is Mike we are talking about... LOL) in front of the camera, I am re-posting our daughters recent drawing of him.

Happy Birthday... we love you.
